Awning fitment
What awning fits a VW Crafter (2017 on)?

On a standard-roof VW Crafter the awning to fit is the roof-mounted Fiamma F80S, on the UK right-hand-drive bracket. If you have a roof rack, or a super-high roof, the wall-mounted F45S is the one instead. Sizes below are by wheelbase; the Fit Finder confirms the exact bracket for your roof.

Have you got a roof rack fitted?
An aftermarket roof rack or roof bars, the kind you'd carry gear or a board on. It changes which awning mounts to your van.
VW Crafter awning sizes by wheelbase
| Wheelbase | No roof rack (roof-mounted F80S) | With a roof rack (wall-mounted F45S) |
|---|---|---|
| MWB | Fiamma F80S 320cm →on the van-specific roof bracket | Fiamma F45S 325cm → |
| LWB | Fiamma F80S 400cm →on the van-specific roof bracket | Fiamma F45S 400cm → |
| XLWB | Fiamma F80S 450cm →on the van-specific roof bracket | Fiamma F45S 450cm →size confirmed before you pay |
Sizes are the fit for each wheelbase. The awning length is set by the van's side run, so the roof-mounted and wall-mounted awnings take the same size for the same van. Aero roof bars need a bracket matched to your bars.
Rails or bare roof: the Crafter question
On a Crafter the kit is decided by what is on top of your van. A 2017-onwards Crafter II with a bare roof takes the right-hand-drive bare-roof kit, which fixes to the roof's factory mounting points. The earlier 2006-2016 Crafter I comes both ways: with factory rails the kit clamps straight to the rails, and with a bare roof it uses the same capped-hole fitting as the Sprinter it shares a platform with, which needs no drilling.
The right-hand-drive story
Here is the detail most Crafter II owners do not know: Fiamma make no right-hand-drive roof-rail kit for the 2017-onwards Crafter. The rail kit they publish is left-hand drive only, which would put your awning on the wrong side of the van. So a UK Crafter II fits the bare-roof right-hand-drive kit instead, fixing to the roof's factory mounting points. It is the correct fit, not a workaround, and it is the kit we stock.
What size takes a Crafter?
The awning length follows the wheelbase: 320cm on the MWB, 400cm on the LWB, and the full 450cm on the extra-long XLWB body. Those hold for both the roof-rail and bare-roof routes on the sizes each kit covers.
MAN TGE: same van, same kits
The MAN TGE is the Crafter II built under a different badge, so every kit and size on this page applies to the TGE unchanged. Pick Crafter in the Fit Finder and the answer is your answer.
Do I have to drill my van?
On the 2006-2016 Crafter I, no: the rail kit clamps to the rails and the bare-roof kit uses the capped holes already in the roof. On the 2017-onwards Crafter II we confirm the fixing method with you before you order rather than promise it here, because the published guidance is not consistent and we would rather be straight than sound certain. With a roof rack fitted, the wall-mounted F45S clamps to your bars and nothing goes into the van at all.
About the Fiamma F80S
The roof-mounted, low-profile Fiamma. It sits above door height and suits high-roof panel vans (Sprinter, Crafter, Ducato) with no clean side-wall fixing line. Sizes 290 to 450cm in Polar White, Titanium or Deep Black. Royal Grey or Royal Blue canopy (Deep Black is Royal Grey only). It needs a van-specific bracket kit, which the Fit Finder has already matched for you above.

Common questions
Do I need a bracket kit for a Fiamma F80S?
Yes, always. The F80S does not fit any van without a van-specific bracket kit, bought separately. The Fit Finder has confirmed the exact part for your van above.
Can I fit a Fiamma F80S myself?
Yes, if you are a confident self-builder, but it is a two-person job to lift the awning onto the roof, and any roof drilling must be sealed properly. If you are not sure about the roof fixing, use an installer.
What is the difference between the F80S and the F45?
The F80S is roof-mounted; the F45 range is wall-mounted. Roof mounting suits vans with no clean side-wall fixing line and places the awning above door height.
Is the F80S manual or electric?
It comes with a hand crank for manual wind-out. Fiamma sells an optional electric motor kit that can be added later, and the awning is ready for optional LED lighting on the lead bar and rear casing.
VW Crafter awning FAQs
What size awning does a VW Crafter take?
By wheelbase: the MWB takes a 320cm F80S (or 325cm F45S on a rack), the LWB a 400cm, and the XLWB (Maxi) a 450cm. The awning must not overhang past the rear doors.
Do I need a bracket for a Crafter awning?
Yes for the roof-mounted F80S, and on a UK van it is the bare-roof right-hand-drive kit, because Fiamma make no right-hand-drive roof-rail kit for the Crafter II. On a roof rack the wall-mounted F45S uses a bar adapter instead.
Does the MAN TGE take the same awning?
Yes. The TGE is the 2017-on Crafter under a different badge, so every size and kit on this page applies to it unchanged.
What about a super-high-roof Crafter?
There is no roof-mounted bracket for the tallest roof, and it would sit too high to reach comfortably anyway. Fit a roof rack and the wall-mounted F45S mounts to that instead, at 325cm, 400cm or 450cm by wheelbase.
F80S or F45S for a Crafter?
No roof rack → the roof-mounted F80S. Roof rack fitted, or a super-high roof → the wall-mounted F45S. Both are the same size for the same van; it comes down to how it mounts.
What size awning fits a MWB VW Crafter?
A MWB VW Crafter takes a 320cm awning: the roof-mounted Fiamma F80S 320cm with no roof rack, or the wall-mounted Fiamma F45S 325cm if a roof rack is fitted. The Fit Finder on this page confirms the exact bracket kit for your roof.
What size awning fits a LWB VW Crafter?
A LWB VW Crafter takes a 400cm awning: the roof-mounted Fiamma F80S 400cm with no roof rack, or the wall-mounted Fiamma F45S 400cm if a roof rack is fitted. The Fit Finder on this page confirms the exact bracket kit for your roof.
What size awning fits a XLWB VW Crafter?
A XLWB VW Crafter takes a 450cm awning: the roof-mounted Fiamma F80S 450cm with no roof rack, or the wall-mounted Fiamma F45S 450cm if a roof rack is fitted. The Fit Finder on this page confirms the exact bracket kit for your roof.
