Awning fitment

What awning fits a Mercedes Sprinter (2006 on)?

Mercedes Sprinter panel van

On a Mercedes Sprinter the awning to fit is the roof-mounted Fiamma F80S, on the UK right-hand-drive bracket (factory rails or bare roof use different kits). With a roof rack, or on a super-high roof, the wall-mounted F45S is the one. Sizes by wheelbase below.

Have you got a roof rack fitted?

An aftermarket roof rack or roof bars, the kind you'd carry gear or a board on. It changes which awning mounts to your van.

Mercedes Sprinter awning sizes by wheelbase

Sizes are the fit for each wheelbase. The awning length is set by the van's side run, so the roof-mounted and wall-mounted awnings take the same size for the same van. Aero roof bars need a bracket matched to your bars.

Rails or bare roof: the Sprinter fork

The Sprinter question is what is on the roof. With factory rails, the kit clamps straight to them, no drilling, and one kit covers both the 2006-2018 W906 and the 2018-onwards W907/VS30. With a bare roof, the RHD kit bolts through the roof's existing capped holes, also without drilling, and opens up the L4 body for the biggest 450cm awning.

What size takes a Sprinter?

MWB takes the 320cm F80S and LWB the 400cm. On the bare-roof route the extra-long L4 takes the 450cm, a size the rail kit does not reach because the rails stop shorter than the roof does.

The H3 high roof is F45S territory

Fiamma do not catalogue the roof-mounted F80S for the H3 high-roof Sprinter. The correct fit there is the wall-mounted F45S on the high side panel, and the Fit Finder routes you to it with the right size rather than selling a kit that does not exist.

Shared with the Crafter I

The 2006-2016 VW Crafter I is the same van as the W906 Sprinter underneath, so the rail and bare-roof kits are shared between them. Dodge and Freightliner badged Sprinters take the same kits too.

Do I have to drill my van?

No, on both common routes: rails clamp and the bare-roof kit uses the capped holes Mercedes already put in the roof. The one drilling route on this platform is the F45S wall kit for the H3 high roof, which fixes into the side wall with sealed rivnuts, and we say so before you buy.

About the Fiamma F80S

The roof-mounted, low-profile Fiamma. It sits above door height and suits high-roof panel vans (Sprinter, Crafter, Ducato) with no clean side-wall fixing line. Sizes 290 to 450cm in Polar White, Titanium or Deep Black. Royal Grey or Royal Blue canopy (Deep Black is Royal Grey only). It needs a van-specific bracket kit, which the Fit Finder has already matched for you above.

Common questions

Do I need a bracket kit for a Fiamma F80S?

Yes, always. The F80S does not fit any van without a van-specific bracket kit, bought separately. The Fit Finder has confirmed the exact part for your van above.

Can I fit a Fiamma F80S myself?

Yes, if you are a confident self-builder, but it is a two-person job to lift the awning onto the roof, and any roof drilling must be sealed properly. If you are not sure about the roof fixing, use an installer.

What is the difference between the F80S and the F45?

The F80S is roof-mounted; the F45 range is wall-mounted. Roof mounting suits vans with no clean side-wall fixing line and places the awning above door height.

Is the F80S manual or electric?

It comes with a hand crank for manual wind-out. Fiamma sells an optional electric motor kit that can be added later, and the awning is ready for optional LED lighting on the lead bar and rear casing.

Mercedes Sprinter awning FAQs

What size awning does a Sprinter take?

On the medium roof: 320cm on the MWB and 400cm on the LWB. The extra-long XLWB takes 450cm, but only on the bare-roof route, because the factory rails stop shorter than the roof does. On a roof rack the wall-mounted F45S is 325cm, 400cm and 450cm.

Do I need a bracket for a Sprinter awning?

Yes for the roof-mounted F80S, and which one depends on your roof: a clamp kit if you have factory rails, or the bare-roof kit if you do not. The Fit Finder picks the right one. On a roof rack the wall-mounted F45S uses a bar adapter instead.

Which awning for a high-roof Sprinter?

The standard medium roof takes the roof-mounted F80S. Fiamma do not catalogue the F80S for the tallest high roof, so that fits the wall-mounted F45S on the side panel instead, at 325cm, 400cm or 450cm by wheelbase.

Does a Sprinter awning need drilling?

Not on either of the common routes. With factory rails the kit clamps to the rails, and on a bare roof it bolts through the capped holes Mercedes already put there. The one route that does drill is the wall-mounted F45S on the tallest high roof, which fixes into the side wall with sealed rivnuts, and we tell you that before you buy.

Is the 2018-on Sprinter different from the older one?

Not for awning fitment. One kit covers both the 2006 to 2018 shape and the 2018-onwards one, so you do not need to work out which generation you have before ordering.

Does this cover the VW Crafter I too?

Yes. The 2006 to 2016 Crafter I is the same van as the older Sprinter underneath, so the rail and bare-roof kits are shared. Dodge and Freightliner badged Sprinters take the same kits as well.

What size awning fits a MWB Mercedes Sprinter?
