Which kit do I need?
On the Transporter it comes down to one question: is there a roof rack fitted?
No roof rack (most vans)
- Wall-mount kit: bolts to VW's original roof fixing points — no drilling. Standard finish for a Polar White awning, Deep Black finish for a Deep Black one.
Roof rack fitted
- Roof-bars adapter: the awning mounts straight to your square or round bars with the adapter pair — the wall kit isn't needed.
Awning size is set by the wheelbase: SWB takes the 260cm F45S, LWB the 300cm. The Fit Finder above confirms both in a couple of taps.

Every kit listed is the UK right-hand-drive version and fits the Fiamma F45S. Fitment verified against the Fiamma 2026 catalogue.
Fitting it
- No drilling on the wall mount. The kit bolts to VW's original roof fixing points, which makes the Transporter one of the easiest awning fits of any van.
- Match the finish to the awning. Standard with Polar White, Deep Black with Deep Black — same fitment either way.
- Rack vans use the adapter instead. If bars are fitted, the awning clamps to them with the adapter pair — don't buy both mounts.
- Two-person job. Lifting the awning onto the fitted brackets is not a solo task at any length.
None of this is beyond a methodical self-builder, and a local installer will fit a supplied awning and kit in a couple of hours.
Questions and answers
Will a Fiamma F80S fit a VW Transporter?
No, and that is Fiamma’s own position, not ours: they make no F80S kit for the T5, T6 or T6.1 in any configuration. The Transporter takes the wall-mounted Fiamma F45S instead, which mounts lower on the body and is the awning designed for the platform. The kits on this page are the F45S mounts.
Which kit do I need for my Transporter?
One question: is there a roof rack fitted? No rack means the wall-mount kit, which bolts to VW’s original roof fixing points with no drilling. With a rack, the awning mounts to your bars using the roof-bars adapter instead. If you are unsure, use the Fit Finder on this page or send us a photo.
What size F45S does my Transporter take?
SWB takes the 260cm F45S and LWB takes the 300cm. Both sizes are verified fitments, and both are in stock in Polar White, Deep Black and Titanium cases.
Does the wall-mount kit need holes drilled in my van?
No. The wall-mount kit bolts to VW’s original roof fixing points, so there is no drilling into the bodywork. That makes the Transporter one of the easiest vans of all to fit an awning to.
My Transporter is right-hand drive — does that matter?
Yes, and the kits we list are already the UK right-hand-drive versions, so the awning ends up on the kerb side. We do not stock the left-hand-drive twins.
What is the difference between the standard and Deep Black kits?
Same fitment, different cosmetic. The Deep Black finish matches the Deep Black F45S case (and dark trim generally); the standard finish suits the Polar White case. Pick whichever matches your awning.
